Prof Samad nominated for int’l best poet award

Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (admin) of Dhaka University (DU), has been nominated for the international best poet award-2018 by the International Poetry Translation and Research Centre (IPTRC) of China.

This year, IPTRC has selected ten poets from ten countries for their outstanding contributions to poetry and literature arena.

Other poets from other countries are Dragos Barbu of Romania, Hilal Karahan of Turkey, Mite Stefoski of Macedonia, Tonia Passola of Catalonia in Spain, Ali Al-Hazm of Saudi Arabia, Mandal Bijoy Beg of India, Fatime Kulli of Albania, DUAN Guang’an of China and Dominique Hecq of Belgium.

Muhammad Samad, president of Jatiya Kabita Parishad, is a talented and popular poet of Bengali language and literature.

For his outstanding contributions to poetry, he received many awards including the City Ananda-Alo Literature Award, Syed Mujtaba Ali Sahitya Award, Poet Sukanta Sahitya Award, Poet Jibanananda Dash Award, Poet Jashim Uddin Sahitya Award, Tribuze Sahitya Award, Poet Vishnu De Award and Kabitalap Award.

Prof Samad was born in 1956 in Jamalpur.
