A two-day long music festival will be held at Dhaka University (DU) Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) from January 27 to 28, reports UNB.
DU music department organises the festival as part of its regular academic curriculum, the department’s chairperson Tumpa Samadar said at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club on Tuesday.The university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman will inaugurate the event as the chief guest. Acting High Commissioner of India in Dhaka Dr Adarsh Swaika, DU Pro- VC (Academic) Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Pro- VC (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, among others, will attend the ceremony as special guests. Students and teachers of the music Department along with the invited singers from India and Sri Lanka will perform at the festival.
The Honours course student, who graduated in 2017scoring the highest result in the class, will be given Nilufar Yasmin Memorial Scholarship.
Besides, eminent music personalities – late professor Mridul Kanti Chakrabarty and Madan Gopal Das – will be honoured at the event.
