A mobile court of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Monday fined 11 institutions, as they failed to comply with the order to use Bengali on signboards in the capital’s Banani area, a DNCC press release said.

The mobile court led by DNCC magistrate Sajid Anwar fined the institutions a total of Tk 2.80 lakh.

DNCC authorities carried out the drive as per the order of the high court to use Bengali language on all signboards, billboards and banners without embassies and international organisations.

DNCC Public Relation Officer ASM Mamun accompanied the magistrate during the drive.

The mobile court will continue the drive until they manage to ensure use of Bengali language on all billboards, banners, signboards and nameplates, the press release added.
