A suspected drug peddler was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with law enforcers in Teknaf on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Mushtaq Ahmed alias Muchhu, 35.

According to BGB Teknaf-2 Battalion commander Lt Col Md Asaduzzaman Chowdhury, Mushtaq was a listed criminal who was detained from Teknaf municipality area on Saturday evening.

“On Sunday morning, police and BGB took him to North Jaliapara under Teknaf municipality to recover Yaba. At this stage, Mushtaq’s accomplices opened fire on the law enforcers who later retaliated in self-defence,” he said.
