Legal framework at final stage for confiscating war criminals’ assets

Law Minister Anisul Huq on Thursday said the formulation of the legal framework for confiscating the assets of war criminals is now at the final stage.

“The task to build a legal framework to confiscate the assets of the war criminals has started last year. Now, the work is at the final stage,” he said.

The minister came up with the remarks while talking to journalists at Akhaura in Brahmanbaria before attending a reception ceremony in  Kasba.

About BNP, the law minister said, “I think BNP should come to parliament. If they don’t join the House, the countrymen will decide what consequences are waiting for them.”

Talking about TIB report on the December 30 general election, he said, “I haven’t read the report yet. I will be able to make comments after reading the report.”

Akhaura Municipality mayor Taqjil Khalifa Kajal, Akhaura upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Shamuzzaman and Pourashava Juba League president Monir Khan were, among others, present at the function.
