Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda will visit India on January 23 to attend a programme marking the ninth National Voters’ Day of India.
Hosne Ara Huda, wife of the CEC, will also go with him to take part in the event which will be held from January 24 to January 25 in Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi. CEC will bear the expense of her wife during the visit.The couple is scheduled to return home on January 28, according to a letter signed by EC’s senior assistant secretary Shah Alam.
The National Voters’ Day (NVD) is observed every year by India on January 25 with the aim of increasing enrolment of voters, especially of the newly eligible ones. The day is also observed to mark the establishment of the Election Commission on this day in 1950.
Joint secretary of EC Forhad Ahmed Khan will also attend the programme.
