Act’ to be removed: Hasan

CHATTOGRAM: Newly appointed Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud assured journalists that he will work for removing concern over the ‘Digital Security Act’. 

He came up with the remark while addressing at a view exchange meeting with journalists at Chattogram Circuit House on Tuesday.

Concern over the ‘Digital Security Act’ or any other acts related to the journalists will be removed, said the minister.

Regarding online news portals, he said they have been working to prepare policy to bring the portals under registration process so that so-called portals can be dropped. 

Dr Hasan also said that a process is underway to bring the online television channels, which are running from house, under rules. 

“We are now working to get the Ninth Wage Board Award for journalists and employees of newspapers and news agencies notified in gazette within the deadline,” he said adding that steps will also be taken for proper implementation of the wage board.

The minister also informed that the telecast of BTV Chattogram centre will be extended to 12 hours from six hours.

With Chattogram south district AL President Moslem Uddin Ahmed in the chair, city unit AL acting President Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, General Secretary and Chattogram City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, north district General Secretary and Jila Parishad Chairman MA Salam were present at the meeting among others.
