Stepping Into New Year In New Spirits

2018 has come to an end. It was another great year! Whether it was a year you had many blessings or a year that left you struggling, it was still a great year. If you’re wondering why that is, it’s so because time is powerful. A year is huge- think of all those countless seconds and moments that calculates in a year! I am sure last year had a great impact on you in one way or another. It surely had on me. I am not the same I had been a year back, neither are you. Every cell in the body is constantly changing. New memories are given birth while the older ones getting reserved somewhere inside. We are meeting new people, reviving old friends and creating new milestones in life. And this is why the beginning of 2019 is important. It should be the year where you take the driver’s seat. It’s not always that everything goes as we plan. Failures are a part of life. Resolutions never work out. And even promises are broken. But make 2019 your year. Despite the frustrations, losses, disappointments and problems that were thrown your way and will still be thrown at you in the future- rise up! Become invincible in your mind and spirits. Here are some things that can turn your ordinary year into a great year:

Watch motivational videos

This may come as a surprise. What do we usually do at the beginning of a year? We party, eat lots of junk food, oversleep and perhaps make some silly resolutions which we know will probably never get fulfilled. However, what we really should do is get prepared for the coming year. In the first few days of the New Year, watch plenty of motivational videos on Youtube. There are some that has powerful words and music. You will end up feeling revitalized and will gain newer energies to tackle the everyday hassles of life.

Learn A New Skill

If your nine-to-five desk job is sucking life out of you, it’s time to turn your attention to other things. Do something feasible. Besides keeping up with your job, learn a new skill- something that interests you. You could learn a new language, turn your attention to a new form of exercise such as yoga or learn swimming.

Spend Time With Loved Ones

No matter how busy you are, take some time out to tell the special people in your lives how much they mean to you. There is a famous saying, “Live as if it’s your last day. Dream as if there’s no tomorrow.” A life without love is nothing. So it’s important to convey to them how you feel. Just a simple utterance of the words “I love you” can make a lot of differences, whether it is to your life partner, parents, grandmother or even your cats!

Stop procrastinating

Get done with what you need to do right away. Otherwise, it’s probably never going to be finished! Of course, there could be few exceptions. If you are too stressed out from work, you may not want to tackle other tasks right away. The best thing to do would be to keep it written. Make a to-do-list and allocate lots of time to yourself so that everything can be done easily and efficiently. Once you are done planning, try not to procrastinate.

Let past be past

Don’t carry baggage on your shoulders or your heart. Whatever has happened in the past, even if it was tragic, try to get over it. Learn to live in the moment- not in the past or in the future. You will see what a huge difference it makes in your life.

Gain motivation from inside

Sometimes we place our happiness on other things and people around us. If that’s the case, in a world that is fleeting, we will find ourselves distant from happiness often. People change and circumstances change. For this reason, it’s important to be your own friend. This way, you can tackle the problems in your life with a better approach and can even help others around you.

Surround yourself with what makes you feel positive

Very often, we fall in a vicious cycle. Troublesome people and troublesome times do not seem to leave us. This could be related to how somebody makes you feel- about your looks or it could be related to certain objects that are stimuli for your depression. The best thing to do is not let these affect you. If that’s not possible, create a visible distance between you and the person/thing causing unpleasant emotions. You will feel like a burden has lifted off from you. It’s very emancipating to let go of toxic emotions and toxic surroundings because all that is left behind is happiness and bliss. Sometimes it may not be possible to completely get rid of the problematic factors from your life. In that case, give yourself more time and give those troublesome elements less time. It will help you get stronger to deal with it.

Be honest to yourself

Most of us are in constant denial throughout our lives. Denial is supposed to help us function more easily. However, it also makes things quite tough for us. Our minds deny to us at times that success is accessible. Accept who you are, wherever that may be in the timeline. For you to succeed, if you are in level zero, accept it. When you once accept it, you will start from level zero and move your way up in time. However, if you never even accept the fact that you are in this stage, you will never have the urgency to rise higher in life.

Look out for new opportunities

You never know when opportunities will arrive in your life, so always keep looking out for possibilities. If you want to make your life a little better, keep a close look on every possibility. Something good could come up this year!

Set some fitness goals

Last but not least, it’s important to stay in shape. As another year fades away, it reminds us of how old we are getting. As we get older, we are more prone to a variety of diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and so on. Make a promise of eating better and doing some kinds of workouts. A one-hour evening stroll everyday could be all it needs to help you save your life from deadly diseases.
