Civil aviation employee arrested with 16 gold bars

CHATTOGRAM: Police arrested an employee of Civil Aviation of Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport with 16 gold bars from the airport area on early Thursday.

The arrestee was identified as Akram Hossain, 28, son of Md Amin Miah of village Rasulpur under Kotwali police station in Cumilla district.

He worked as trolley-man of the Civil Aviation at the airport.

Inspector (Investigation) Gazi Md Fouzul Azim of concerned Patenga police station said acting on a tip-off, they arrested the trolley-man Akram with the gold bars from a passenger-shed at the airport.

The market price of the gold bars weighing around 1.865 kg was estimated around Tk 80 lakh, he said.

A case was filed accusing the arrestee with the police station in this connection, the police officer said adding that Akram might have involved with gold smuggling racket.
