Bashundhara Kings and Lt Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club were drawn in Group D of the premier domestic football tournament, Federation Cup, while Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra were drawn in Group C. The draw was held at BFF (Bangladesh Football Federation) House in the capital on Saturday.
Newly promoted Bashundhara Kings will have a golden opportunity to seal their spot in AFC Cup by winning the much coveted Federation Cup. On the other hand, Sheikh Jamal are also red-hot favourites due to their sensational attacking football. With both the title contenders in Group-D, it will not be inappropriate to term the pool as the ‘Group of Death’.BFF senior Vice-President Abdus Salam Murshedy, Member Md Shawkat Ali Khan Jahangir, Amit Khan Shuvro, Md Ilias Hossain, Jakir Hossain Chowdhury, Abdur Rahim, General Secretary Abu Anim Sohag were present during the draw. Walton Group senior Operative Director Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn represented Walton Group in the event as Walton Group will sponsor the meet.
Federation Cup has been Bangladesh’s premier knockout competition in men’s football. The competition started in 1980. The teams from the country’s premier league and other clubs compete in the tournament while occasionally Indian sides were invited in the past. The winner of the tournament earn the slot of playing qualifying round of AFC Cup.

Group B: Saif Sporting Club Ltd, Team BJMC, Brothers Union Ltd
Group C: Dhaka Abahani Ltd, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad Krira Chakra
