Durga Puja being celebrated amid festivity in Faridpur

FARIDPUR: Durga Puja, one of the biggest religious festivals of Hindus is being celebrated here with much enthusiasm and festivity as elsewhere across the country .

Hundreds of devotees and visitors from different localities have seen thronged to Puja mandaps to seek blessings for their well-being and welfare.

Almost all the mandaps in the district are  buzzing with festivity and entertainment following drum (Dhol) beating, adorning color gate and balloons, blowing bamboo flutes, tuning Mondira, illuminating lights, playing music  etc.

Besides sweetened candy, Nadu, Muri, Khoi have been served to visitors and relatives in different mandaps on the occasion. Shoppers sitting beside mandaps are seen busy selling bangles, ribbons , dolls and different attractive food items.

The celebrations will end through immersion of the idols erected in 760 Puja mandaps in  nine upazilas of the district  after celebration of the ‘Moha Dashami’ on October 19.

The law enforcement agencies were seen to take adequate measures for ensuring the peaceful celebration of the festivity.

Moreover financial contribution on behalf of LGRD and Cooperative minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain has been donated to  different  puja mandaps  to celebrate the festivity peacefully.
