Call for making collective efforts for compliance in poultry sector

RAJSHAHI: Experts at a discussion here have stressed the need for collective efforts of all government, non-government and public representatives to ensure compliance in the poultry sector for the sake of a sound public health, reports BSS.

They identically mentioned that manufacturing, producing and marketing of safe poultry feed is the precondition to good poultry farming and that can be the effective means of getting good poultry meat.

They made the observation while addressing a workshop titled “Role and Duties of Professional Leaders and Public Representatives in Safe Food Good Governance in Poultry Sector” in Paba Upazila Parishad Hall room in the district on Monday.

Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB) organized the workshop in association with UKaid and British Council. An Issue-based project on “Food Safety Governance in Poultry Sector in Bangladesh” supported the programme.

Chaired by CAB local unit General Secretary Golam Mostofa Mamun, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jahid Newaz and its Vice-chairman Ashraful Haque, District Livestock Officer Dr Zulfikar Akhter Hossain, assistant director of Department of National Consumers Rights Protection Hassan Al Maruf and Upazila Livestock Officer Ismail Hossain.
