A probe body has found proof of irregularities in the admission tests for admission into different branches of Motijheel Ideal School and College in the city.

The probe body found 69 answer scripts of the admission tests to be tampered, but did not disclose anything about the people involved in the irregularities.

The daily sun obtained a copy of the probe report. The report stated that scrutinising all the records and papers, it was proved that the allegations of tampering with answer scripts of the admission tests are true.

Dhaka District Administration submitted the probe report to the education ministry mentioning that they seized 69 answer scripts of the admission tests for Motijheel Ideal School and College as those were tempered.

Education ministry Joint secretary (non-government secondary) Salma Jahan told the daily sun that “We received the probe report. Action will be taken based on the findings of the report.”

Earlier, one Begum Shamoly Shimu in February sent an official complaint to the secretary of the secondary and higher education division of education ministry.

The complainant said Dr Shahan Ara Begum, principal of Ideal School and College, along with the assistant headteacher Salam Khan, engineer Atiquer Rahman, and the two staff—-Kabir Hossain and Atiquer Rahman—-tampered the answers scripts for admitting some unqualified candidates illegally.

There are also allegations that unsuccessful candidates were admitted Motijheel Ideal School and College through tampering and overwriting 100 answer scripts of Class II and Class III admission tests at the Motijheel, Mugda and Banasree branch of the renowned private school.

It was also alleged that the school’s principal Dr Shahana Ara Begum earned Tk 3 crore by admitting students illegally through tampering the answer papers.

About the probe report, complainant Shamoly Shimu told the daily sun that the culprits behind the tampering the answer papers will be identified if the authorities carry out further probe over the scam.

Following the allegation, secondary and higher education division of education ministry on April 19 ordered Dhaka district administration to carry out a probe into the allegation.

After concluding the probe, senior assistant commissioner and executive magistrate Taslima Mostari submitted a probe report to Dhaka deputy commission (DC) Abu Saleh Mohammad Ferdous Khan on July 31 for taking the next course of action.

Later, the DC on August 8 submitted the probe report to the secretary of the secondary and higher education division of the education ministry.

According to the probe report, the probe body analyzed the answer scripts of 122 successful candidates of Class II and Class III for session 2018 at Motijheel, Mugda and Banasree branch of Motijheel ideal school and college.

The probe body seized 69 answer papers including 33 answer papers of Class II (boys section) of the school’s Motijheel branch (Bangla medium), eight of Class II (girls section) of Motijheel branch (Bangla medium), eight answer papers of Class III of Banasree branch (boys section), seven of Class III (bangle medium) of Mugda branch (boys section), nine answer scripts of Class III (boys section) of the Banasree branch of the school.

However, refusing the allegations, principal Dr Sahana Ara Begum said, “I’m only involved in academic activities; I’m not involved with the answer scripts evaluation.”
