Bankers’ Cup Cricket to start Oct 12

The inaugural Bankers Cup Cricket Tournament 2018 organised by Imago Sports Management Ltd, will commence from October 12. Twelve Banks of the country will take part in the tournament.

Twelve Banks, split into two groups, will play the tournament which will take place at Gulshan Youth Club ground and Dhaka Residential Model College playground. The group stage matches will be held in a single leg format while the best two teams of group stage from each group will compete in Semifinal. The final will take place at Gulshan Youth Club ground on November 16.

According to the organisers,   Standard Chartered Bank, AB Bank, Mutual Trust Bank, Eastern Bank, Prime Bank along with other top banks of the country already confirmed their participation.

Ahead of the Bankers Cup Cricket Tournament, a meeting was held on Monday with the presence representatives of Banks, Advisory Committee and tournament organisers. Former national cricketers Ishtiaq Ahmed alongside Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director Khaled Mahmud Sujon are included in Advisory Committee.

“Many sporting events for service teams are being organised all around the world. Some similar tournaments were organised in Bangladesh previously but irregularly. We want to host Bankers Cup Cricket Tournament regularly,” Ishtiaq Ahmed said.

Ex-national cricketers like Neeyamur Rashid,Mahmudur Rahman, Tareq Aziz who are currently working in banks expressed their excitement with the opportunity to return to cricket with Bankers Cup Cricket Tournament.
