Case filed against 44 BNP men in Rupganj

Police filed a case accusing 44 leaders and activists of BNP of acts of sabotage in Rupganj of Narayanganj on Wednesday.

Major accused are Narayanganj unit BNP President Moniruzzaman Monir, leader Abbas Uddin, chairperson’s advisor Taimur Alam Khandker, Rupganj unit General Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Humayun, Chhatra Dal leaders — Amirul Islam Emon, Bashir Uddin Bachchu, Omar Farukh, Nasir Uddin Bhuiyan and Shafiqul Islam Chowdhury.

Rupganj Police Station Officer-in-charge Moniruzzaman Monir said, “Sources informed that BNP activists were planning acts of sabotage. They managed to flee when police forces arrived there. We arrested two activists – Abbas Uddin and Nuruzzaman.”

Bhulta Police Outpost Sub-Inspector Nadiruzzaman filed the case. Police took the two arrestees to the court.

Panic has spread among leaders and activists of BNP, as police are continuing drives in different areas of the upazila to nab them.
