BNP has announced a three-day countrywide demonstration programme protesting shifting of court inside jail for trial of party chairperson Khaleda Zia and demanding her release from jail.
The demonstration programme will be held across the country on September 8, 10 and 12 respectively.While addressing two separate press briefings at BNP central office at Nayapaltan in the capital on Wednesday, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme demanding unconditional release of party chief from jail and protesting shifting of court inside jail for her trial.
He said the party will hold protest rallies in metropolitan cities and district headquarters across the country, including the capital, on September 8 to protest shifting of court ‘unconstitutionally’ inside old Dhaka Central Jail on Nazimuddin Road in the capital for trial of Khaleda Zia who is now serving jail terms there.
He said a human chain will be formed in all metropolitan cities and district towns from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon on September 10. In Dhaka, the human chain will be formed in front of the National Press Club on the same day and same time.
He said the party will observe a token hunger strike in all metropolitan cities and district headquarters from 10:00 am 12:00 noon on September 12 demanding release of Khaleds Zia from jail.
