Six robbers arrested with sharp weapons

CHATTOGRAM: Police arrested six robbers with sharp weapons while taking preparation for robbery in the city’s Sadarghat area on early Monday.

The arrestees were identified as Forkan, 22, Amir Hossain, 24, Md Rony, 21, Md Farid alias Bulu, 21, Md Nur Jaman, 21, and Md Imran alias Sajal, 19.

Of them, Forkan, Amir and Rony are accused of two separate murder cases.

Sources said all the arrestees are residents of Sahebpara area under Sadarghat Police Station and came out of jail in bail in different cases recently.

Inspector (investigation) Ruhul Amin of the police station said the arrestees and their associates plotted the robbery in jail to pay expenses of the cases against them.

After coming out of the jail, they gathered at Kalabagan Field in the Sahebpara area to execute the plan on Monday early hours, he said.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested them from the spot and recovered a machete and three knives, the police officer said.

In the primary interrogation, the arrestees also confessed to plan the robbery for paying the case expenses, he said.

A case was filed accusing them with the police station in this connection, Inspector Ruhul added.
