Three throat-slit Rohingya men rescued alive

COX’S BAZAR: Unidentified miscreants attempted to kill three Rohingyas by slaughtering after abduction at Teknaf upazila in the district on Monday.

The Rohingyas were rescued in injured condition while three others reportedly remained missing.

The injured were identified as Nur Alam, 45, son of Sayed Hossain, Md Khalek, 22, son of Jamal Mostafa, and Md Anwar, 33, son of Abdul Gaffar of Balukhali and Kutupalong Rohingya camp areas.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ranjit Barua of Teknaf Police Station said miscreants abducted the victims from Balukhali camp areas and took to hilly areas of Pariapara in Chakmarkul under the upazila. Miscreants attempted to kill them through slaughtering with sharp weapons, he said.

On receiving information, police recovered the trio from the hilly area and sent to hospitals for medication.

Three others, including injured Khalek’s father Jamal reportedly remained missing, said the OC.

He said cause behind the incident could not be known immediately.

Drives were going on to rescue the missing persons and arrest the criminals, he added.
