Live art performance held in city

A unique mixed media art approach has been presented on stage, known as live art performance, in the grand award ceremonial evening of Superbrands organised by Bangladesh Brand Forum on Saturday at Utshab Banquet Hall, Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden.

The performers of the event were Nazia Andaleeb Preema, Tahmina Hafiz Lisa, Sanjid Mahmud, Sharker Nasrin Toontoon, Pervez, and Ahmed Tahsin Shams who spontaneously formed an abstract motion art at the venue through connecting space, time and actions supported by relevant props and aesthetic gestures. A poem by Maya Angelou entitled ‘Still I Rise’ was read aloud live in a per formative manner.

Live Art, or performance, is one of the most controversial and hotly discussed areas of art practice to emerge in the second half of the twentieth century.

The history of Live Art is one of challenge to audiences, art traditions and cultural values.

Leading artists and thinkers assess the relevance of Live Art now and its impact within the visual arts and the broader cultural sphere.
