Indonesian embassy turns festive on Independence Day

The Indonesian embassy premises in Dhaka turned festive for a few hours on the occasion of the Independence Day of the country on Saturday.

The presence of the members of the Indonesian community in their traditional look and the smells of delicious dishes turned the embassy festive.

The chancery complex of the Indonesian mission wore a festive and splendid look as it was decorated with different beautiful art works.

Amid much festivity and fanfare, the embassy celebrated the occasion through holding a carnival styled Festival Indonesia.

Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Rina P Soemarno inaugurated the festival cutting the ceremonial ribbon amid a thunderous applause in the morning.

The carnival featured Indonesian fair, competitions for children, serving foods, selfy contest, and cultural programme. With their fabulous performances, Indonesian diplomats and amateur artistes mesmerised the audience at the celebration programme.

Inggrid Rosalina, Fajar Primananda, Murni Nyaristi and their colleagues held the audience spellbound by showing their mettle in different artistic performances on stage.

Their splendid and traditional costumes, elaborate makeup, and high-voltage performances earned them a huge round of applaud from the beholders at the event.

The Indonesian Ambassador also put life into the celebrations by sending waves of joy and ecstasy through the audience by hitting the floor with them several times.

The knots of spectators also cheered the performers to the echo while the amateurs clad in colourful traditional Indonesian attires were rendering their spectacular performances.

The audience also added an extra dimension to the programme with their energetic dance to the Indonesian traditional numbers with the sounds of East Asian instruments.

The chancery of the embassy seemed a part of Indonesia as its nationals living and working in Bangladesh got there together for a couple of hours.

They had some quality time with their families and friends at the chancery as the national holiday brought such an opportunity for them.

With sounds of laughing and speaking of Indonesian dialects, they for some time felt home abroad and expressed their gratitude to the embassy for arranging the event.

The participants of the celebrations also grasped the opportunity to sample the taste of different mouth-watering dishes of Indonesian cuisine.

As they could grasp the opportunity to sample the taste of different mouth-watering dishes, the festival also took them on a gastronomic exploration of foods.

Indonesians could prove once again that they have no equals when it comes to treating the taste buds with the culinary delights.

Apart from its cultural performances and culinary delights, the festival also won the hearts of visitors by showcasing traditional costumes and cosmetics of Indonesia.
