AL submits financial report to EC

The ruling Awami League (AL) have shown Tk 6,61,48,117 surplus into their annual reports on income and expenditure of 2017.

The party earned Tk 20,24,96,436 while it spent Tk 13,63,48,319 in 2017, AL Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap said this after submitting the return to Election Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed on Tuesday.

He said, “The main earnings of the party are from the grants for constructing new buildings, annual fees of members and bank interest.”

“The expenditure includes building new structures, salaries and bonuses of employees, holding meetings and seminars and utility bills,” said Golap.  As per the Representation of the People Order, all the registered political parties are supposed to audit the yearly financial reports and submit them between January and July.
