Walsh wants to be Tigers’ permanent head coach

Bangladesh National Cricket Team interim head coach Courtney Walsh expressed his hopes on Thursday that he wants to be the permanent head coach of the national team.

Pace bowling coach Courtney Walsh named the Tigers’ interim head coach for the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka on February 26. The legendary Windies cricketer joined as BCB coaching staff on a three-year deal in September 2016.

Walsh took the responsibility of interim head coach of Bangladesh following the resignation of former coach Chandika Hathurusingha.

Bangladesh have played an extraordinary cricket in Sri Lanka without a full-time head coach.

Although Walsh is an interim coach, he is enjoying the responsibility as head coach of the team Bangladesh.

“I am enjoying the opportunity. Everyone is professional here. If I get the opportunity, I will continue to serve as the head coach of the Tigers team happily,” said Walsh.

He told media that he knows the board is searching for a head coach. If BCB asks him, he will happily receive the opportunity and will do his best.

“Hopefully, we will get a head coach very soon. It is better for the team. We have to continue the momentum. Hopefully we will get a good head coach so that everyone can work with him happily. My main goal is to ensure the success of Bangladesh cricket team,” he concluded.
