Rear Admiral M Khaled Iqbal took charge as the vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU), Bangladesh on Thursday.

President Abdul Hamid, also the chancellor of the university, appointed him to the post, says a press release. 

Prior to joining here, Khaled Iqbal served as the chairman of the Chittagong Port Authority. He joined Bangladesh Navy in January, 1981 and commissioned in Executive Branch on June 1, 1983.

The new VC took over the charge from outgoing VC Rear Admiral ASM Abdul Baten at a ceremony on the campus.

Treasurer, registrar, deans, faculty members, officers and staffs were also present at the programme.
