Case filed over Mithun Chakma killing

KHAGRACHHARI: A case was filed with a court here on Tuesday against 17 leaders of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) and newly floated UPDF-Ganotantrik over the murder of United People’s Democratic Front leader Mithun Chakma, reports UNB.

A week after the killing, Mithun’s cousin Ani Bikash Chakma filed the case with the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Abu Sufian Md Noman.

The court asked the officer-in-charge of Khagrachhari Police Station to record the complaint as an ejahar, said the complainant’s counsel.

Those made accused in the case include PCJSS central general secretary Tatindra Chakma alias Major Pele, its student affairs secretary and former Baghaichhari upazila parishad chairman Sudarshan Chakma, PCJSS vice-president and Rangamati’s Naniachar upazila parishad chairman Advocate Shaktiman Chakma, UPDF-Ganotantrik convener Tapan Jyoti Chakma and its member secretary Shyamal Kanti Chakma.

On January 3, Mithun was shot to death by miscreants at Pankhaiyapara in Sadar upazila.
