The 4th convocation of Islamic University (IU), Kushtia, will be held today amid festive mood and peaceful atmosphere on the campus after 16 years.

President Md Abdul Hamid, also the chancellor of the university, will preside over the convocation ceremony while Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof Dr Abdul Mannan will be present as the special guest.

Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, will deliver the convocation speech where IU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari will deliver the address of welcome.

A total of 9200 graduate and post graduate students registered their names to attend the convocation where over 17, 000 certificates will be awarded among the graduates, post graduates, MPhil and PhD researchers of the university.

Around 20 post graduates will get opportunity to receive Presidential Gold Medal award from

the president.
