25 houses gutted in Gazipur fire

Gazipur: At least 25 houses were gutted in a fire that broke out at a workers’ colony in the city’s Bhogra area on Wednesday morning, reports UNB.

Jakir Hossain, senior station officer of Gazipur Fire Service and Civil Defense Station, said the fire broke out at the tin-roofed workers’ colony around 9:15 am and soon engulfed the adjacent houses.

On receiving information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame after one hour of frantic efforts.

The cause of blaze could not be known yet, the official said, adding that no casualties were reported in the fire.
