Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC DB-West) AHM Humayun Kabir of the CMP said on information, they conducted a drive at a flat on the fourth floor of Minu Bhaban in Port City Housing Society area adjacent to Balur Math under Sadarghat Police Station around 11:30pm.
They arrested the two Neo-JMB men from the flat.
Ten handmade grenades, two suicidal vests, bomb-making materials and two mobile phones were recovered from their possessions during the drive, he said.
Besides, they recovered two sketch-maps named ‘Target-1’ and ‘T-1’ drawn for carrying out attack on Sadarghat Police Station in the area, the ADC said.In the primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they took rent of the house identifying themselves as bachelor with the help of one Misbah around two months back as per directive of their so-called ameer ‘Don’, he said.
After visiting different police stations in the city, the arrestees made a plan to carry out a suicidal attack on Sadarghat Police Station, said the DB officer.
“As part of their anti-state activities, they drew a map of the police station for carrying out the attack in bid to weaken the confidence of police personnel and create panic among general people,” he said.
“Their main motive was to carry out sabotage in the establishment of law enforcement agencies, including police,” the ADC said.
A case was filed against the arrestees with the concerned police station in this connection, ADC Humayun said, adding that drives are going on to arrest Misbah and Don.
Meanwhile, a Chittagong court on Tuesday granted a seven-day remand for the arrestees.
The court of Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Saleh Mohammad Noman granted the remand when CTTC inspector Rajesh Barua produced the arrestees before the court with a 10-day remand prayer, said ADC (Prosecution) Nirmanlendu Bikash Chakrabarbartya of the CMP.
