A Dhaka court on Thursday handed down death penalty to a man for killing his wife over family dispute in 2012.
Judge Abdur Rahman Sarder of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 handed down the verdict in absence of the convict Imon Hossain, who went into hiding after getting bail from court in the case.
A total 16 prosecution witnesses testified before the court during the trial proceedings in the case.
According to the case, the convict Imon killed his wife Liza Aktar at their rented house in the capital’s Dakshin Khan area on September 22, 2012 and fled the scene after locking the door from outside.
Two days after the murder, police recovered body of the housewife after broken the door of the house.
