2 women among 4 held with 52,250 Yaba tablets

CHITTAGONG: Police arrested four persons, including two women, with 52,250 Yaba tablets in separate drives in the city and district on Wednesday.  
The arrestees are identified as Kamrunnahar, 28, Ambia Khatun, 25, Mokter Mia, 25, and Morshed Alam, 24.  


Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Dulal Mahmud of Anwara Police Station said on information, they arrested Kamrunnahar with 50,000 Yaba tablets from her house in Paschhim Raipur union at around 1:00am.


One Md Selim of Uthanmajhi Ghat area under the upazila was owner of the seized Yaba tablets and Kamrunnahar was caretaker, he said.


Drives were going on to round up Selim, he said.  


Ambia Khatun was also arrested with 1,200 Yaba tablets from the city’s Steel Mill Bazar area under Patenga Police Station at around 12:15 am, said OC Abul Kashem Bhuyian of the police station.  


Meanwhile, Mokter Mia and Morshed Alam were arrested with 1,050 Yaba tablets from a city-bound passenger bus in Shah Amanat Bridge area at around 6:30am, said Inspector (Investigation) Kabir Hossain of Bakolia Police Station.


Three separate cases were filed accusing the arrestees with respective police stations, said sources.
