Community clinic set up at Tripura Para

CHITTAGONG: A community clinic was set up at Tripura Para in Sitakunda upazila, where 10 children died of measles last month, in a bid to ensure healthcare services.


Chittagong district Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Azizul Rahman Siddiqi inaugurated the clinic in presence of Upazila Chairman Monir Ahmed and Upazila Health Officer SM Nurul Karim at around 10:00am.    


Civil Surgeon said they inaugurated activities of medication through the clinic set up at a rented house on temporary basis and permanent structure will be constructed later.


The clinic having a healthcare provider and two field level workers will examine blood pressure, sugar, cough and other samples of residents of the locality, he said.


Besides, the clinic will provide medicines at free of cost and ensure healthcare service to pregnant women and children, he said.


Mentionable, ten children died of measles at their houses at Tripura Para since July 12.


In the beginning, doctors termed the diseases as unknown one and said the children suffered from fever with rash on their skins. Later, they died of coughing and respiratory problems.
