8 Biman officials among  18 charge-sheeted

Detective Branch (DB) of police on Monday submitted a charge sheet against 18 persons, including eight employees of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, in a case filed with Airport Police Station over smuggling of 124kg gold in 2013.

 

Md Golam Saklain, assistant commissioner of DB police, also the investigating officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court.

 

The accused Biman employees are Kamrul Hasan, junior security officer, Abu Jafar, sweeping supervisor, Masudur Rahman, aircraft mechanic, Anis Uddin Bhuiyan, assistant aircraft mechanic, Mojibur Rahman Mojib, aircraft mechanic, Md Shahjahan Siraj alias Babul, senior inspection officer, Saleh Ahmed, engineering officer, and Rayhan Ali.

 

The other accused are Gauranga Roshan, a citizen of Nepal, his Bangladeshi associates businessmen Milon Sikder, Abdul Barek Tarafder, Saleh Ahmed Khan, Manik Miah, Subrata Kumar Das, SM Nurul Islam, money exchange businessman Saleh Ahmed, Sirajul Islam and Jasimuddin.

 

Of the accused, 13 are now on bail while five are on the run.
