A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) received gunshot wounds to his abdomen in Paltan area in the capital on Monday.
The 22-year-old BCL man, Mosharraf Hossain, is a resident of Gausia area of Rupganj Upazila in Narayanganj.

Relatives of Mosharraf claimed the incident is the result of a longstanding conflict between Rupganj upazila Awami League and the Chhatra League.

They said a group asked Mosharraf to come to Paltan tower on Monday evening to reach a settlement. Hira, a cadre of Rupganj, and Masud Rana alias Ashiq was present at the meeting where Mosharraf and Ashiq had had an argument. At one stage, Mosharraf was shot.
He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, hospital sources said.

Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Platan Police Station, said: “One Kamruzzaman, who took Mosharraf to hospital, has been taken to police station.”
