Navy, BAF chiefs’ rank upgraded

The government has upgraded the rank of the chiefs of Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force (BAF).


The rank of the Navy chief has been upgraded to Admiral from Vice Admiral while that of BAF to Air Chief Marshal from Air Marshal, said an ISPR release on Sunday.


Security adviser to the Prime Minister Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique and acting Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Anwar Hussain adorned Navy chief M Farid Habib and BAF chief Abu Esrar with the new respective rank badges at the Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday in the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.


PM’s political adviser HT Imam and senior secretary of the Defence Ministry Kazi Habibul Awal were, among others, present at the programme.
