The five-day 21st National Furniture Fair 2026 opened at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka on Tuesday, bringing together 44 local furniture companies showcasing their products and designs across 323 stalls.

Organised by the Bangladesh Furniture Shilpa Malik Samity (BFSMS), the fair will run until 31 October, allowing visitors to explore locally made furniture, compare designs and enjoy discounts of up to 15%, according to a press release.

Participating brands include Akhtar, Hatil, Brothers, Nadia, Ayoto, Omega, JMG, Navana, Athenus, Partex, Regal and Legasis. The fair features furniture manufactured in Bangladesh, while a children’s art competition was also held on the opening day.

Mohammad Hasan Arif, vice-chairman and chief executive officer of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), attended the inauguration as chief guest.

Md Fazlul Haque, administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), and Dr K M Akhtaruzzaman, president of the Bangladesh Furniture Exporters Association, attended as special guests. BFSMS Chairman Selim H Rahman presided over the ceremony.

Hasan Arif said the industry could contribute more to the national economy by improving product quality and design and exploring new export markets.

Selim H Rahman stressed the need for investment in quality, design and technology, alongside improved access to finance and a skilled workforce, to strengthen the sector.

Alhaj Sheikh Abdul Awal, BFSMS vice-chairman and convener of the fair committee, said the event allowed manufacturers to showcase their latest designs directly to consumers and helped buyers compare products from different brands.

The fair is open daily from 10am to 9pm until 31 October at Halls 2, 3 and 4 of ICCB. Entry is free.
