Bangladesh has invited international oil and gas companies to participate in the Bangladesh Offshore Bidding Round 2026, offering 26 offshore blocks in the Bay of Bengal to global investors.

The investment opportunity was highlighted at a ministerial session on the Strategic Stage of the World Energies Summit in London on Tuesday, where Bangladesh presented its growing energy demand, offshore resource potential and investment framework to international investors.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit said the country’s energy demand was rising steadily amid rapid economic growth.

He said the government was working to increase exploration and production of domestic gas and energy resources to meet the growing demand.

The state minister also urged international oil and gas companies to participate in the Bangladesh Offshore Bidding Round 2026.

Under the bidding round, 26 offshore blocks have been opened to global investors, including 11 shallow-water and 15 deep-water blocks in the Bay of Bengal.

At the summit, Invest Bangladesh Chairman Ashik Chowdhury presented an overview of Bangladesh’s broader economic situation.

He highlighted macroeconomic stability, positive investment flows and various policy measures taken by the government to facilitate international investment.

The presentation also covered the unexplored potential of Bangladesh’s offshore resources, the availability of modern seismic data and the competitive commercial terms offered under the Offshore Model Production Sharing Contract (PSC) 2026.

At the end of the session, the Bangladesh delegation encouraged international energy companies to review the country’s geological and seismic data before considering participation in the bidding round.

The delegation also urged prospective investors to contact the Bangladesh government and Petrobangla directly for further information and to participate in the ongoing bidding process.
