Give govt time instead of staging long marches: Abdus Salam

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Md Abdus Salam on Saturday urged opposition parties to give the government time instead of organising programmes such as long march.

He made the remarks while inaugurating a “Market in Exchange for Waste” programme jointly organised by Bidyanondo Foundation and DSCC at the capital’s Swarighat.

Urging the opposition to stand by the government without increasing public suffering, Salam said, “Do not create a path for the return of the old autocracy. Instead, cooperate with the city corporation in cleaning up waste.”

The DSCC administrator also said there are plans to generate electricity, gas and diesel from waste. “Work is underway to make the rivers surrounding Dhaka navigable,” he said.
