Thriller film “Shikar”, based on crime, corruption and various irregularities in border areas, has brought together popular actors from Bangladesh and Kolkata. Directed by Kamruzzaman Roman, the film stars Apu Biswas alongside newcomer Mortoza Polash. Three well-known Kolkata actors--Rajatava Dutta, Kharaj Mukherjee and Samm Bhattacharya--have recently joined the cast.
The shooting of “Shikar” has already begun in Nepal. According to director Kamruzzaman Roman, the film will feature artistes from Bangladesh, India and Nepal, adding an international dimension to the production.
All three Kolkata actors have previously appeared in Bangladeshi films. Samm Bhattacharya recently acted in “Barbad” and “Rakkhosh”, while Rajatava Dutta and Kharaj Mukherjee are returning to Bangladeshi cinema after a long break.
“Rajatava Dutta, Kharaj Mukherjee and Samm Bhattacharya have been cast according to the requirements of their respective characters. Everyone is working very hard. I hope we can deliver a great film for the audience together,” said Kamruzzaman Roman.
Rajatava Dutta will portray Manish Malhotra, a politically connected character involved in corruption and illegal activities in the border areas. Describing the role, Roman said, “Manish Malhotra has a political background. He is involved in corruption and illegal activities in the border areas. Overall, the character is quite strong. I hope the audience will like it.”
Apu Biswas also expressed her enthusiasm for the project. “When the director narrated the story, I agreed immediately because there is enough scope for me to work and perform in the film. I am also excited about newcomer Mortoza Polash making his debut through this project. Overall, I have high expectations for the film,” she said.
“Shikar” was initially announced earlier this year as a web film for an OTT platform. However, following discussions with production company Reza Films, the project was later planned as a full-length theatrical release.
The Nepal schedule will continue for around 25 days. After completing the Nepal shoot, the cast and crew will return to Bangladesh, where another week of filming is planned. Post-production will begin after shooting wraps, followed by the announcement of the film’s release date.
