Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman on Friday said that the government will implement the law reform commission’s recommendations while upholding the principles of the July Charter.
Speaking to the journalists after inaugurating a tree fair at the old DC Court premises in Jhenaidah town, the minister said the commission had issued 133 ordinances during the tenure of the interim government. "We have accepted almost all of the ordinances, and they will be implemented while preserving the core principles of the July Charter," he said.
Responding to a question about former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's possible return to the country, Asaduzzaman said the government would take all necessary legal steps if she returned. "If she comes back, she will face the court. The government will not act outside the law," he said.
On the case over the attack on central leaders of the NCP in Habiganj, the minister said the matter would be investigated impartially and legal action would be taken against those found responsible.
"A case has already been filed. It will be investigated properly, and action will be taken in accordance with the law against those accused after the investigation," he added.
Also speaking at the programme, State Miniet of the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry M Rashiduzzaman Millat highlighted the country's tourism potential, saying a comprehensive master plan had been undertaken to attract both domestic and foreign tourists and strengthen the sector's contribution to the economy.
Besides, Prime Minister’s Political Assistant Rashed Khan criticised recent remarks made by the NCP against the prime minister, describing them as inconsistent with political etiquette.
He said BNP would extend support to the NCP in its political programmes across the country, excluding Nasiruddin Patwari.
