Du’as to recite after Fajr and Maghrib prayer
A A

Both the Fajr and Maghrib prayers are highly important in Islam. Fajr marks the transition from night to day, while Maghrib marks the transition from day to night. Allah (SWT) commanded Muslims to remember Him during both these pivotal times. First and foremost, Muslims should perform the five times daily prayers punctually and in congregation. There are many meaningful Dua’s that are prescribed by the Prophet (SAW) and his blessed companions (RA) to recite after completing the Fajr and Maghrib’s obligatory prayers. Some of these are mentioned below:
At first, Muslims should recite Allahu Akbar once and Astaghfirullah three times. Then they should recite Allahumma antas Salam and Ayatul Qursi. Then they should recite Allahumma ajirni minannar. Reciting Allahumma ajirni minan naar seven times immediately after Fajr and Maghrib prayers before speaking to anyone is such a virtuous act and spiritual safety net that protects its reciter from Hellfire. Harith Ibn Muslim quoted his father Muslim Ibn Harith at-Tamimi as saying that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) told him secretly, “When you finish the sunset prayer, say: Allahumma ajirni minan nar (O Allah, protect me from Hell) seven times; for if you say that and die that night, protection from it would be recorded for you; and when you finish the dawn (Fajr) prayer, say it in a similar way, for if you die that day, protection from it would be recorded for you. AbuSa’id told me that al-Harith said the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said this to us secretly, so we confine it to our brethren.” (Abu Dawud: 5079).
Reciting the beautiful Du’a – Raditu billahi Rabban, wabil-Islami dinan, wabi Muhammadin nabiyyan (I am content with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my religion and Muhammad as my Prophet) – three times immediately after Fajr prayer carries profound spiritual weight, serving as a powerful renewal of faith at the very dawn of a new day. It provides guaranteed entry into Paradise and Allah’s pleasure for the believer on the Day of Judgement. A Muslim, who recites this meaningful Du’a three times just after Fajr prayer, makes it a binding right upon Allah to completely please and satisfy them on the Day of Resurrection. Abu Salam (RA), the servant of the Prophet (SAW) narrated that the Prophet (SAW) said, “There is no Muslim – or no person, or slave (of Allah) – who recite this Du’a in the morning and evening, but he will have a promise from Allah to make him pleased on the Day of Resurrection.” (Sunan Ibn Majah: 3870). According to the Hadit no. 9950 from Sunan An-Nasayee, whoever recites this Du’a three times in the morning (after Fajr) and in the evening (after Maghrib) will be guaranteed Allah’s complete pleasure and satisfaction on the Day of Resurrection.
Another virtuous Du’a that can be recited after Fajr and Maghrib is La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharikalahu, lahul mulku walahul hamdu, yuhyee wa yumitu wahuwa ala kulli shayin qadeer (None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, alone without partner, to Him belongs all that exists, and to Him is the praise, He gives life and causes death, and He is powerful over all things). According to a Hadith, whoever recites this Du’a ten times immediately after the Fajr prayer, the reciter is granted complete security from every disliked thing. Abu Dharr (RA) narrated that The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “Whoever says at the end of every Fajr prayer, while his feet are still folded, before speaking ‘La ilaha illallahu...’ ten times, then ten good deeds shall be written for him, ten evil deeds shall be wiped away from him, ten degrees shall be raised up for him, and he shall be in security all that day from every disliked thing, and he shall be in protection from Shaytan, and no sin will meet him or destroy him that day, except for associating partners with Allah.” (Jami Tirmidhi: 3474). Moreover, Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “Whoever recites this Du’a ten times, it is for him equal to freeing four slaves among the offspring of Ismayeel.” (Jami Tirmidhi: 3553).
Reciting Bismillahillahji la yadurru ma’asmihi shai’un fil ardi wala fis samai wahuwas samiul alim (In the name of Allah with Whose Name nothing on earth or in heaven harms, and He is the All-Seeing, All-Knowing) three times after Fajr and Maghrib prayers also brings immense rewards. Uthman Ibn ‘Affan said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say, ‘There is no person who recites this du’a three times, and is then harmed by anything.’” (Ibn Majah: 3869).
