Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon on Tuesday announced a 180-day priority action plan aimed at reforming and modernising the country’s education sector.
The announcement came on the first working day after the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, when the minister exchanged greetings with officials at the conference room of the Ministry of Education in Dhaka.
The information was sent by the ministry as a press release.
During the meeting, he discussed in detail the 180-day programme aligned with the election manifesto of the nationalist party following the 13th National Parliamentary Election, as well as the education sector plans for the 2026-27 fiscal year and a five-year strategic roadmap.
Senior officials from the Secondary and Higher Education Division, Technical and Madrasa Education Division, and Primary and Mass Education Division were present at the meeting.
The minister outlined several key initiatives, including “One Teacher, One Tab”; expansion of multimedia classrooms; compulsory third-language education; universal access to technical education; and the “One Child, One Tree” programme, aiming at the swift implementation of election commitments.
He also highlighted plans to distribute free school uniforms and shoes, introduce student loan facilities for higher education abroad, and ensure recognition and respect for Huffaz.
The meeting decided that within the next 180 days, more than 200,000 students across all upazilas will receive free school uniforms and shoes.
A broader plan is also underway to provide these benefits to all primary-level students nationwide in the shortest possible time.
Additionally, the government plans to provide tablets to all teachers at the primary, technical, madrasa, and school-college levels within one year.
