A Dhaka court on Tuesday ordered the seizure of land worth Tk3.9 crore and two vehicles worth Tk1.61 crore belonging to former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

Judge Mohammad Kamrul Islam Khan of Dhaka Special Judge Court-3 passed the orders following petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The petition regarding Asaduzzaman Khan stated the seized assets include 10 kathas of land in Narayanganj and a total of 167.23 decimals of land in Dohar and Ashulia.

Asaduzzaman acquired assets worth Tk16.41 crore beyond his known sources of income and conducted suspicious transactions on Tk55.92 crore through eight bank accounts, ACC stated in the plea.

It found the accused had been attempting to sell, transfer or otherwise dispose of the illegally acquired assets, which may cause irreparable

loss to the state.

Following the ACC petition, the court also ordered the freezing of 86 bank accounts belonging to former Member of Parliament (MP) Tanvir Shakil Joy, his family and associates, and six bank accounts belonging to former MP Ashim Kumar Ukil.

The petition regarding former lawmaker Tanvir Shakil Joy stated the 86 bank accounts ordered to be frozen hold a total of Tk17.76 crore.

The account holders are Tanvir Shakil Joy, wife Sabrina Sultana Chowdhury, mother Laila Arzumand, brother Tamal Mansur, and associate Mir Mosharraf Hossain—former private secretary to former minister Mohammad Nasim.

The ACC stated an inquiry is ongoing against Tanvir over allegations of power abuse, irregularities and corrupt practices, and inconsistent wealth acquisition with unknown sources of income.

The petition linked to former MP Ashim Kumar Ukil stated he had been attempting to transfer, hand over or otherwise dispose of funds from his bank accounts and if transferred, it would become difficult to recover the money.
