A devastating fire on 25 November burned down more than a thousand homes in the Korail slum of Mohakhali, Dhaka. It took over five hours and the effort of 19 units of the Fire Service to bring the blaze under control. Many families are now living under the open sky.

In response, the “Delupi” team has decided that on 2 December, the producer’s share of ticket sales from all “Delupi” shows across the country will be donated to support the residents of Korail. This is not an attempt to compensate for their irreplaceable losses, the team said, but a gesture of solidarity with those affected.

The film is currently being screened in nine shows across five cinemas, including Star Cineplex (Bashundhara and Sony Square), Star Cineplex (Bali Arcade, Chattogram), Cinescope (Narayanganj), and Grand Riverview Cineplex (Rajshahi).

Expressing love and respect for the Korail community, the “Delupi” team has also urged everyone to stand together in this crisis.

The movie “Delupi” marks the feature film debut of director Mohammad Touqir Islam.
