A man was stabbed to death and his wife injured allegedly by his son-in-law in Uttar Shalgaria Sarderpara area of Pabna district town on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mojaffar Hossain,60, a resident of Baushgari village in Santhia upazila.

He used to live in Uttar Shalgaria Sarderpara area of the district town.

Police, quoting family members, said, Iqbal Hossain, son-in-law of the deceased, came to his father-in-law’s house on Wednesday night and an altercation ensued between them over a family matter.

As a sequel to the altercation, Iqbal stabbed his father-in-law Mojaffar with a sharp weapon at about 2:00 am, leaving him critically injured.

He also stabbed his mother-in-law Rizia Khatun,50, when she tried to save her husband’s life.

Later, they were admitted to Pabna General Hospital where Mojaffar succumbed to his injures at about 6:00 am.

Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Abdul Kuddus confirmed the incident.

Iqbal went into hiding after the incident.
