Golam Akbar Chowdhury passes away

Golam Akbar Chowdhury, husband of Awami League presidium member and Deputy Leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in capital on Monday.

Golam Akbar Chowdhury, who had been suffering from various old-age ailments including breathing complication, breathed his last at BSMMU of the city around 10:30am.

In a condolence message, the President said the nation has lost a noted citizen due to the death of Golam Akbar Chowdhury.

He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to his bereaved family members.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock at the death of noted politician and social worker Golam Akbar Chowdhury.

Golam Akbar Chowdhury was very close to Bangabandhu, the Prime Minister said in a condolence message adding that Sarbadaliya Chhatra Sangram Parishad (all party student movement council) was formed in Chittagong for Language Movement with Golam Akbar in the chair. He also served as a honourary member in the planning cell of the Mujibnagar Government during the War of Liberation, she said.
