South Africa’s Dewald Brevis has made a sensational leap in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, climbing 80 spots after his record-breaking century against Australia on Tuesday in Darwin.

Walking in at 44-2 during the fifth over of the second T20I, the 21-year-old smashed his maiden T20I fifty before converting it into an unbeaten 125 off 56 balls, decorated with 12 fours and eight sixes.

The knock made him the youngest South African to score a T20I century and the highest individual scorer for the Proteas in the format, as well as the highest ever against Australia. His exploits lifted him from 101st to 21st, just behind Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan.

Australia’s Tim David also enjoyed a career-best ranking, rising six places to 10th in the T20I batting list after a rich run of form — 50, 83, 30, and an unbeaten 102 in his last four innings. Teammate Cameron Green jumped six places to 17th. South Africa’s Tristan Stubbs moved up 12 spots to joint 27th.

On the bowling charts, South Africa’s Kwena Maphaka and Australia’s Ben Dwarshuis surged 61 and 60 spots respectively after taking seven and five wickets in the ongoing series. Josh Hazlewood improved three places to 20th, while Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi climbed 15 and 14 spots to 44th and 50th respectively.

In Tests, New Zealand reaped rewards from their 2-0 sweep over Zimbabwe. Pacer Matt Henry, Player of the Series with 16 wickets at an average of 9.12, reached a career-high rating and moved to third in the Test bowling rankings, ahead of Pat Cummins. Only Jasprit Bumrah and Rabada remain above him. Batters Rachin Ravindra (up 15 to 23rd), Devon Conway (up seven to 37th), and Henry Nicholls (up six to 47th) also improved.

In ODIs, West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie rose five places to 12th after taking a wicket in each of the first two matches against Pakistan. Teammate Jayden Seales jumped 24 spots to 33rd, while Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed gained three places to 54th.
