A fire broke out at the basement of the 10-storey Capital Siraj Centre Shopping Mall on Bailey Road in Dhaka Monday evening.

Firefighters were alerted to the incident at 6:47pm and the first unit reached the spot at 6:58pm, according to the Media Cell of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Nine firefighting units were working to bring the blaze under control, it said.

No casualties have been reported in the incident so far.

The cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
