Taiyeb warns of massive cyberattacks ahead of polls

Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant to the ICT ministry Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb on Sunday warned about massive cyberattacks on the digital infrastructures as well as the propagation of rumors and misinformation ahead of the national election.

“Most probably we are going to face [the] largest [ever] cyber attack in the country’s history ahead of the national election with the joint attempts of native and foreign forces. There will be vast amounts of misinformation on the social media sites too to misguide people,” Taiyeb said.

He was addressing a workshop on Digital verification and Fact-Checking at ICT Tower, Agargaon in the capital

District information officers participated in the workshop.

Taiyeb called upon the government officials to stay alert from now to confront the attacks.
