Unidentified assailants attacked the car carrying NCP leader Hasnat Abdullah at Chandana intersection in Gazipur on Sunday, leaving last year’s key uprising leader with injuring in the hand.

Abdul Hannan Masud, another NCP leader, confirmed the matter in a facebook post in the evening, urging everyone nearby to quickly come to Hasnat’s aid.

Hasnat is now on his way to Dhaka, said NCP Senior Joint Convener Ariful Islam Adib.

Sarjis Alam, another key NCP leader, made a similar post, calling people from surrounding areas to protect Hasnat. He claimed miscreants riding on 10-12 motorbikes carried out the attack.

Sarjis also shared pictures of the vandalised car.
