Religion belongs to individuals, Bangladesh belongs to all: Jamaat Ameer

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that the country belongs to everyone; there are no minorities here.
He made this remark during an exchange meeting with members of the Hindu community on Tuesday in Kulaura, Moulvibazar.
In the meeting, he pledged to build a just society irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or identity, and called for an end to political violence and a politics of vengeance.
With the guiding principle of “Religion belongs to individuals, but Bangladesh belongs to all,” Shafiqur Rahman said, “We want to build a society where Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians—people of all faiths—can live with dignity.”
He made these remarks as the chief guest at the exchange meeting held at the Kulaura Municipality auditorium.
In response to journalists' questions, Jamaat’s Ameer commented, “The Chief Adviser has said that elections will be held either in December or by next June. We want to see him keep his word.”
The meeting was presided over by Assistant Professor Md. Abdul Muntazim, Ameer of Kulaura Upazila Jamaat, and conducted by General Secretary Belal Ahmad Chowdhury.
Among the speakers were former principal of Kulaura Government College Soumya Pradeep Bhattacharya Sajal, Upazila Puja Celebration Council President Dr. Arunava Dey, and Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council convener Dr. Rajat Kanti Bhattacharya, among others.
Earlier in the day, at 10 AM, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman attended a Dawati (invitation-based) meeting at Nawabganj Bazaar in Bhukshimail Union, followed by a gathering at Juri Night Chaumuhani at 1:30 PM. In the afternoon, he held an educational meeting with members of the district Islami Chhatra Shibir. After Asr prayers, he addressed worshippers at Robirbazar Mosque and later participated in public engagements in Pritimpasha, Brahmanbazar, and Bhatera unions.
