The Bangladesh Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association has accused the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) Umpires Committee of humiliating ICC Elite Panel umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid Saikat by manipulating disciplinary bylaws during a Bashundhara Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (BDPL) match.
In a press release signed by Association President Kazi Yusha Mishu, the association expressed deep disappointment, alleging that the Umpires Committee Chairman altered the punishment guidelines the night before a match to favor a particular team. This act, they claim, not only undermined the bylaws but also disrespected the match officials involved.
The statement further noted that despite hopes for a better future following the country’s July uprising, irregularities within umpiring practices persist. It reaffirmed the association’s commitment to upholding the dignity and integrity of umpires and scorers across Bangladesh.
